2392 Miles
Flowing water and memories, the minds journey to find home in the unfamiliar.

Directors Statement
The local culture in Hawaii is very strong and very distinct, so when I moved to San Francisco for college I immediately felt a disconnect with the space that I was in. 2392 Miles is a film to channel the homesickness that I have been feeling for the past four years. Although I do go back home to Hawaii during winter and summer break, it feels as if the new memories I make cause the homesickness to deepen within myself. I dream of friends, family, food and places that have always been around yet are now out of reach - I hope to find them every day. A 16 year old version of me wanted nothing else than to get away to “find my place”, but I truly didn't know what I had until it was miles away. I hope that my film reaches the people who are also missing home, and maybe others from Hawaii who thought the same way I did before leaving. Over these four years I have learned to truly value the moments I exist in, and this film is a tribute to those fragments of time alongside my loved ones in the place that I call home.
Concept and Development
A casual phone call with a friend is all you need to brighten a dark room, but a young adult is left alone in her empty room with only the memories of loved ones to keep her company once it’s over. She tries to hold these moments and find familiar things around her to keep them near, but in the end she is still alone. That is until a magical reminder of her home comes out to play. She must decide how badly she wants to go home and see the people she loves, if she’s willing to jump into this opportunity and find her way home.
